This issue celebrates summer by bringing people together – and what better way than through food and friendship?

We start with seasonal picnic hamper ideas from Roving Chef Alex, perfect for outdoor meals or a thoughtful treat. You’ll also find fuss-free recipes using everyday ingredients in our new Quick and easy guide.

Our chefs have been active in the community too: Chef Ollie recently led a training day with luxury care provider TLC Care, and Chef Claire joined a group in Glasgow to cook tasty meals using food bank staples.

We share heart-warming feedback from our pen- and phone-pal scheme, which continues to connect older veg*ns across the UK.

Lastly, we’re now an affiliate charity of Evergreen Insurance Services. VfL receives a donation each time a supporter takes out a policy – a no-cost way to help us.

I hope this issue brings a few rays of sunshine to your summer.
