We are delighted to have won the Janey Lee Grace Wellbeing Charity Award 2021

Janey Lee Grace’s coveted ‘Janey Loves 2021 Platinum Awards’ seek to bring excellence and innovation into the mainstream. The awards recognise distinction among wellbeing charities and books; natural, organic and eco products; and alternative treatments and therapies.

Singer, author, television presenter and radio disc jockey, Janey, was joined by a panel of esteemed judges to select this year’s award winners – who carried out ‘real life’ testing. The panel included TV presenter and ‘voice coach to the stars’ Carrie Grant; entrepreneur and beloved organic living guru, Jo Wood; actress Glynis Barber; and UK’s leading expert in women’s nutritional health Dr Marilyn Glenville. Readers and the public also cast consumer votes.

Tiny companies jostled alongside multi-nationals to compete for these prestigious awards in the following categories: Wellbeing Charities; Skincare & Beauty; Haircare; Mother, Baby, & Family; Food & Drink; Health & Wellbeing; Home & Garden; Clothing & Accessories; Books; and Practitioners & Therapies.

VfL – the UK charity working on behalf of older vegans and vegetarians – is delighted to have scooped a win in the Wellbeing Charity category, in recognition of the comprehensive programme of online and postal outreach that it developed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Amanda Woodvine VfL CEO said: “The pandemic has been particularly challenging for some older vegans and vegetarians, including those living in care homes who haven’t been able to receive visitors. Even before the pandemic, many care home residents had no visitors at all.

“So we wanted to put a smile on their face. Not only did the charity’s card-writing and pen- and phone-pals schemes thrive during this period, but its online cookery school did, too.

“During the pandemic, VfL’s chefs were joined virtually by almost 3,000 attendees across 45 organisations, including lunch clubs, care home caterers, carers groups, Women’s Institutes, Age UK franchises and other older people's groups and networks throughout the UK – offering menu support where required.

“We are absolutely thrilled that VfL’s work has been recognised by this award!”
