Annette Wardell
Opera singer Annette Wardle shared the story of her vegan journey with us, in an interview for Vintage magazine.
"I was nearly 50 when I became vegan, and can safely say that it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
"I have a GP friend who has been vegan for over 35 years, and she encouraged me to explore the dairy and egg industries through films and literature. My eyes were opened, and I became vegan overnight. Literally. And I’ve never looked back!
"As a performer there’s no such thing as a typical day’s diet! If I’m at home practising and learning new music I’ll usually have a Nutribullet oat milk shake with frozen berries, nuts and seeds for lunch, and cook something tasty, such as a chilli, curry or soup for tea. If I’m performing I’ll usually have my main meal at lunchtime and take something light, either a salad or sarnies, to eat before I sing.
"There are sooo many resources out there to help with a vegan journey at any age, and studies show that a vegan diet can be one of healthiest, supporting good health at all stages of life, as well as being beneficial for the planet and, of course, for the animals. My advice would be... just do it!!"
