V for Life

Friends of VfL

Supported by the Vegan Society

With a little help from my friends…

If you don’t need support at the present time, perhaps you could spare a little time to help someone who does? Friends of V for Life are vegan or vegetarian people who work voluntarily to help raise awareness of the charity and its work.  You can really help us to make a difference to someone’s life!

Become a champion for older vegans and vegetarians and take V for Life Challenge!

Want to make a real difference for older vegans and vegetarians? Join the V for Life Challenge – a simple yet powerful way to advocate for better support, choices, and respect for those in later life who choose a compassionate diet. By completing five key actions, you’ll earn recognition as a V for Life Champion – a leader in creating change for older veg*ns in your community.

Your 5 steps to becoming a V for Life Champion

Join our Friends Facebook Group* – Stay connected with like-minded advocates and share your progress.
Introduce yourself to your local library – Help spread awareness by ensuring they display resources to support older veg*ns.

Put up display materials – Place posters or leaflets in key locations to help spread the word.
Reach out to a local veg*n group, MP, and care home – Start conversations and advocate for more inclusive food options.
Celebrate and share – Let us know once you’ve completed your steps, and we’ll recognise you as an official V for Life Champion!

Why take the challenge?

Older vegans and vegetarians can face unique challenges, especially in care settings where their dietary choices might be overlooked. By taking these simple actions, you can help ensure that compassion doesn’t stop at later life.

Your reward for taking part

  • Recognition as a V for Life Champion
  • A certificate celebrating your impact
  • A feature on our Wall of Champions
  • A special thank-you gift to mark your achievement

How to become one of our Friends

If you are interested in becoming a Friend please get in touch. You can either fill in the application form or please contact us and we’ll send you a paper copy in the post. As you’ll see, the form is easy to complete and asks you some very basic questions, such as your name and contact details. It also asks you about what particular areas of our work interest you. This can help us to get you involved in ways that really appeal to you. After we have received your form you will be phoned by a team member. This call will explain all aspects of the charity’s work and answer any questions that you may have. It’s also a personal welcome to the VfL team!

If you experience any problems completing the application form, please don't hesitate to contact us or call 0161 257 0887.
